SuffolkWeb Software Utilities Waiver of Liability
SuffolkNet/SuffolkWeb service is intended to be
"an extension of the local library's service program."
As such, it should not be construed to be a full Internet Service
Provider (ISP). The purpose of this service is to assist the patron's
independent research by providing increased access to information.
Other services of SuffolkNet are secondary to this purpose. This
is clearly compatible with the traditional role of the public
library.
In order to fulfill this role the SuffolkNet project
offers two significant services
to the patron beyond basic Internet access. First, it provides
a few basic tools (software) to assist the patron to connect to
the Internet. Secondly, it provides a professionally developed
searching tool (SuffolkWeb Home Page) to help the patron find
the information they seek in an efficient manner. We also recognize
the growth of e-mail as an effective means of communication and
information sharing and will continue to support it as an important
outgrowth of our primary service as a research tool. SuffolkNet
is a great place for research and an easy way to get acquainted
with the Internet. It is not intended to compete with commercial
Internet Service Providers. Sophisticated users may well consider
these other services.
