Artist Biography

Welcome to Every Sunset Unique! I'm thrilled to be back displaying my photos at the Half Hollow Hills Library in this beautiful new gallery space. My two previous exhibits at the library include Come in From the Cold, 2016, in which I introduced the 'Hat Study,' and Tiferet, 2017, a 'journey' highlighting beautiful scenes from the land of Israel.

I've loved taking photos since I'm little, when my dad first gave me a small Kodak black and white Instamatic camera, and helped me create little photo albums. From an early age, I focused my camera on flowers, birds flying in the sky, and anything beautiful that caught my eye. As a photographer now, my passion and purpose is to inspire and encourage others to notice the beauty in the world that's always present all around us if we just take a moment to stop and pay attention. I still love to tell a story through my lens, no matter if it on a trip far away, or right in my own backyard.

The sunsets in this exhibit are from many places, near and far, and span many years. It's amazing to me that no matter how many times you watch a sunrise or sunset, no two are exactly the same... hence the title Every Sunset Unique! I've set up the gallery in a way to make the many different versions work together, with the intention of creating an atmosphere of the awe, beauty and warmth you'd feel when viewing a real sunrise or sunset. In 2020 and 2021, when the world stopped for the pandemic, beautiful sunrises and sunsets were still a constant in a world of unknowns. Many of the photos in this exhibit were taken during that time, and were not only uplifting to me and those I shared them with, but were also a reminder that with each new day there is always the opportunity to find and focus on moments of beauty, joy and feeling uplifted no matter what else is going on.

In addition to photography, I enjoy expressing my art through pottery and poetry. I've also recently started taking oil painting lessons. It's never too late to learn something new!
