Artist Biography

I’ve always enjoyed artistic crafts, but it wasn’t until I retired from a forty-year career in accounting and finance that I began to seriously pursue my interest in art. Growing up, my father was a commercial artist, and through example, taught me to creatively look at things from different points of view and explore all options. This approach served me well in my finance career and is invaluable as I work to create paintings.

Soon after retiring, while shopping for art for my home, I got inspired to create my own art. I came home and said to my husband, “I’m going to try to make art for the house myself”. That’s how I started. After the first five pastel collages that I made were installed in my home stairwell, I enrolled in an acrylic painting class at Michael’s craft store. From there my love of painting grew.

I’m thrilled when I find the perfect color selections and shapes to achieve a pleasing presentation of the subject matter. I try to use color in my paintings to highlight what’s important to fully appreciate the image. I get a feeling of relaxation and joy while engrossed in painting, and upon completion, a strong sense of accomplishment.

After a few years of painting, I moved on to study at the Vintage Canvas. I also began displaying my work at various Art in the Park Exhibits and Arts and Crafts Fairs on Long Island. My goal is to provide affordable and colorful art with the hope that other people will enjoy it as I do. To further my sharing of art, I also print my paintings on the cover of 5x7 blank note cards. Each package contains a dozen folded note cards and envelopes with a different painting printed on the cover of each card.
