Developing literacy skills begins at birth and continues through the toddler and preschool years. The best way to be sure that your child has the skills needed to learn to read, is to have someone read aloud to them. Children who are consistently read to start stronger in school.

Help your child get ready to read by participating in the HHHCL 1KB4K program. It is a self-directed reading program. Read which ever books you and your child want - repeated reading of favorites are encouraged! Once you register for the program, we provide a log to track what you read to your child. For every 100 books, come in for a sticker!

To sign up and pick up your registration packet, visit the Children’s Services desk at either building any time. Ongoing registration is for families with children from birth through age 5, not yet in Kindergarten.
