Ghosts of Long Island II: More Stories Of The Paranormal by Kerriann Flanagan Brosky

"Another fascinating book by Kerriann. I love reading about LI's history and spirits who are still here. It gives me comfort knowing our loved ones are still here with us, only on a different plane. One chapter is about her Mom's families personal contacts in the Elmont house she grew up in- amazing! I Kerriann lives in Huntington and gives lectures at LI libraries. I wish she could come to ours, I'd love to hear her talks!" - N. Bellissimo

The Eva Rae Thomas Mystery Series: Book 1 by Willow Rose

"If I had realized the story was about the serial abduction, abuse and murder of children, I wouldn’t have started it. As it was, I couldn’t get past the first few chapters. Just too dark and disturbing for me." - E. Pasquali

It's Better This Way by Debbie Macomber

"I'm a real fan of hers and have been for years, so my review is probably biased. This is a very good summer read. It weaves in some current issues with a hard sell, which some of her prior books did. Not quite a hallmark ending, but a very satisfying read."

Sabina Reigns by Lorraine Bartlett

"A modern love story with current issues and main characters that have 'baggage' and prior commitments, who are not actually looking for love, but living their lives. Relatable for the over 40. If you're looking for a happily ever after hallmark ending, then this is not for you." - F. Schwarz

Homemade Sin by Mary Kay Andrews

"As I said, I'm hooked on this cast of quirky characters, and if you like audiobooks, this series is very well done and a great companion for holiday gift knitting. A story complex enough to keep you guessing. As I'm late to the series, a number of great reads ahead through the fall." -F. Schwarz

A Deadly Deletion by Lorna Barrett

"The latest in the author's Booktown series takes a different direction than the prior books. It seems like a lot of dead ends (excuse the pun) as the story unfolds. I will be very interested in where the author takes the recurring characters in the next book of this series." - F. Schwarz

Every Crooked Nanny by Mary Kay Andrews

"I guess this would be classified as a cozy mystery, really hooked on this genre, not sure which site recommended the series, but after the first book, I'll be continuing. Set down south with a cast of quirky characters, a little on the dark side, but keeps you guessing." - F. Schwarz

Sunset Beach by Mary Kay Andrews

"I know this author has been writing for a while, but this is my first book from her, and it will not be my last. I was looking for a read in a beach/summer setting. I enjoyed the main character and how she as an adult related to her father. Interesting story; I guess it could be considered a cozy mystery. Quick read." - F. Schwarz

The Return by Nichoas Sparks

"Upon getting an email from the author, I realized I did not read last year's summer release. A quick read with a lot of current issues woven into the story. Some surprising twists and turns, a sweet tale worth the time." - F. Schwarz

Last Summer at the Golden Hotel by Elyssa Friedland

"Great read for anyone who has every stayed in the Catskill or other all inclusive resort upstate. A little slice of nostalgia that will make you smile as memories are shared and remembered." - F. Schwarz

We Were Never Here by Andrea Bartz

"Emily and Kristin are best friends who travel together. Yet, their international travels, though filled with fun times, also tie them together with a deadly secret: they are murderers. Both times, the murder was necessary, they rationalize, because they were being sexually assaulted. Emily has a difficult time transitioning back to her life at home while Kristin seems to be adjusting just fine. Kristin tries to keep Emily tethered to her, which makes Emily question Kristin’s motives and look into her past. Death seems to surround Kristin.

Clouds in My Coffee by Julie Mulhen

"This is part of the Country Club Murder Mystery Series. A family that harbors many secrets and feuds frames the mystery. Murder attempts are made on Ellison’s life, or is her sister Marjorie the target? Detective Anarchy Jones, assigned to protect Ellison and apprehend the murderer, proves to be an unwelcome romantic distraction for Ellison, who is still reeling from her husband’s infidelity and death. There are many twists and red herrings. Characters are interesting and diverse." - E. Pasquali

The Girl With the Make Believe Husband by Julia Quinn

"This historical romantic novel is a prequel for the Bridgerton Series. The year was 1779, Derbyshire, England. Cecilia Harcourt had recently lost her father. Her brother who was an officer in the army was stationed in New York City hadn’t been heard from in quite a long time. Cecilia didn’t like being alone in their big house. If her brother didn’t come home, the estate would pass to a cousin. She decides to board a ship going to NYC to find her brother. She doesn’t find her brother but finds his best friend in a hospital.

Staging Is Murder by Grace Topping

"Laura Bishop, a 'stager' for home sales, begins to stage Victoria Denton’s mansion. While Laura is working, Victoria’s dead body tumbles down the laundry chute. When Tyrone, Laura’s part-time college assistant, is accused of the murder, Laura sets out to find the killer and save her fledgling business. A bonus for mystery readers: Laura, with no sleuthing experience, sometimes negatively compares herself to such fictional sleuths as Stephanie Plum and Miss Marple. An engaging read with many red herrings.

Nine Lives by Danielle Steel

"This is a very engaging story about a woman who learns first hand that daring men can destroy the lives of the women who love them. She deliberately marries a man who is not daring and has a good life only to be met with tragedy anyhow. Her life takes a surprising turn, and she must make very difficult choices." - L. Gerber
