Faster by Neal Bascomb

"It was a long book with what I felt was too many details about the cars stats, as well as the rules of each race. Probably males would like all the car facts, but I found it overwhelming and it made the story go so much slower before we even got to the infamous race which gave the book its title. However, it was very well written and I learned a lot about race cars, various famous race courses, and more. I was also able to surprise my husband when we were watching a show about sports cars and racing & I was able to throw out the fact that “of course this is not Formula car racing which can only occur on a race course, but actual sports car chassis which is very different in the additional races they can take part in, like La Monza, which is on a race course for only the end, but the cars start farther away in totally different cities and have to complete each leg of the course within certain time frames (some of roads are not paved, as well as various weather conditions like snow and rain which of course does not pertain to formula car racing at all). He looked at me in amazement and I just reminded him of the book I’d just finished! I only gave 3 stars because book was too long, otherwise I really did enjoy it tho I had not expected to do so." - L.
