Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

"I must admit that this book gave me much difficulty - it was, to me, a very difficult read as the subject matter was very peculiar. I participate in library book club, usually the 12noon one. But I was trying to branch out a little so I tried this book which was on the evening book club list for this past month. Since I hadn’t finished before the meeting, I decided not to participate as I didn’t want the ending to be disclosed to me. Now, I wish I had attended that book club meeting since I really didn’t understand this book at all. I can’t even give a little synopsis about it since I really do not know what the book was about, except maybe to say that the author was on drugs when he wrote it since so much of it was so unbelievable and strange. I really needed that book club for this one! I really can’t recommend this book to anyone, except someone who is a masochist and wants to make their life difficult reading this book. I never leave a book unfinished, I always keep plugging away at it, with the ever hopeful mindset that maybe there is something redeemable coming into the picture later; but this book made me give up that hopeful mindset and I had to put it down forever and move onto the next book waiting in my pile. I gave this book only 1 star because in order to submit the review I needed to fill in that field, otherwise I’d really have given it no stars. Sorry Neil Gaiman, maybe this book just went over my head, or under it, not really sure." - L. Liebman

1/4 stars.
